What Is Functional Neurology?
Functional neurology is an approach that looks at how well your nervous system — your brain, spinal cord, and the sensory systems that connect them — is actually functioning, rather than only looking for visible damage or disease. Through specialized testing of balance, eye movement, reflexes, and cognitive function, we identify patterns that may be contributing to your symptoms, then build a personalized rehabilitation plan to help support and retrain your nervous system.
Am I a good fit for this type of care?
This approach tends to be a strong fit if you've had symptoms like dizziness, brain fog, headaches, or post-concussion issues evaluated elsewhere without a clear answer, or if you're looking for a more thorough, root-cause-focused evaluation than a typical visit allows. It's also well-suited for athletes and student athletes seeking specialized concussion or vestibular care, and for anyone managing complex, overlapping neurological symptoms. If you're unsure whether your specific situation is a good match, we're happy to talk it through with you directly.
I've been dealing with symptoms for a long time, can this still work for me?
Chronic, long-standing symptoms are actually a common reason people seek out functional neurology care — often after other approaches haven't provided the answers they were looking for. While every case is different and we can't guarantee specific outcomes, a thorough evaluation can often reveal patterns and contributing factors that weren't previously identified, which becomes the starting point for a personalized care plan.
What kind of therapies can I expect?
our specific plan depends entirely on what your evaluation reveals, but care may include hands-on chiropractic adjustments, targeted neuromuscular rehabilitation (balance, coordination, vestibular, and oculomotor exercises), soft tissue work, compression, electrical muscle stimulation, and supportive therapies like PEMF. Every plan is built around your individual findings rather than a standard, one-size-fits-all protocol.
How many times do I need to be seen in-office to achieve results?
Honestly, it varies quite a bit — and that's by design, not because we're avoiding the question. Your recommended frequency depends on your specific health history, along with how long you've been dealing with your symptoms and how significant they are. For some patients, that means one visit a week over several weeks. For others working through something more acute or complex, it might mean a short stretch of daily visits to build momentum early on.
The reasoning behind this comes down to how the nervous system actually changes over time — a concept called neuroplasticity. Lasting improvement usually isn't the result of a single visit; it comes from consistently repeating the right exercises and therapies until your nervous system genuinely adapts.
Do you take insurance?
We are an out of network clinic and do not participate with insurance companies. You can expect payment in the form of initial deposit for examination, and completion of payment at time of service. We provide superbills (fee slips) that you can submit to your insurance provider for reimbursement after examination or therapy has been completed.
